Anoto acquires Livescribe

Consolidation in the Digital Writing Space continues with the recent announcement of Anoto’s acquisition of long time partner Livescribe.

Livescribe was an early mover in the everyday application of digital writing. The Livescribe product range has been very popular with students and over it’s lifespan has a maintained a very high brand awareness in the consumer marketplace.

As the market for digital writing matures, this type of consolidation makes sense, potentially opening up significant scale between existing Livescribe early adopters, who have gone on to become potential enterprise users.

“Acquiring Livescribe is another important step in consolidating the Anoto ecosystem and realizing synergies in hardware and software development, supply chain and operations, and sales distribution,” said Stein Revelsby, CEO of Anoto. “We are already working on a new range of products to be launched in Livescribe’s sales channels in 2016.”
